The Gazebo Project
2008

The Rotary Club of Estes Park and the Sunrise Rotary Club combined efforts to construct the gazebo in Wiest Plaza, in concert with the construction of a gathering place and extension of the Riverwalk by the Estes Park Urban Renewal Authority.

This opportunity evolved when there were some monies left over from the construction of the Willows overlook, which celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Rotary.  In view of the contributions that had been made for a physical manifestation celebrating Rotary, the Board of the Rotary Club of Estes Park asked the Community Projects Committee to consider another physical project that would serve the residents and visitors of Estes Park.  The ongoing Wiest Plaza project by the Estes Park Urban Renewal Authority offered the perfect opportunity.

The financial resources of the Rotary Club of Estes Park were enough to provide the columns of the gazebo.  The Sunrise Rotary Club contributed the cost of the gazebo top, to complete the project.

The gazebo is the focal point of that gathering space, offering a cantilevered view of the Fall River, with the paving pattern radiating outward and seating facing the gazebo.  A bronze plaque denotes the contribution of both Rotary Clubs.
